Childrens Book: Knuffle Bunny

Title: Knuffle Bunny
Author: Mo Willems
-The authors biography is located in the back of the book. The bio mentions that Mo has won 6 emmy awards for his writings on Seasame Street, was the head writer for Code Name Kids Next Door and creator of Sheep In The Big City.
-The cover picture on the front is an actual picture of New York street in black and white, contrasting with a drawn in picture on top of the photograph of what appears to be a man wearing jeans and brown shoes. The persons hand (which you can only see the hand, jeans, and shoes) is patting a little girl named Trixie. Trixie is wearing a pink shirt and pink socks with tan overalls. She has a huge smile on her face, revealing 5 teeth total, with wide eyes and pointy little nose. She is carrying around a stuffed bunny (knuffle bunny) which is a faded yellow color with purple on the inside of it's ears, and little circles to help simulate little paws.
-There are 18 total pages
-Characters include: Trixie, Dad, Mom, And Knuffle Bunny(even though it is imaginary and inatimate)
-The setting took place in: the house, a park, and a New York Laundromat
-At a local New Yrok laundromat, Trixie and her father went to go do their laundry. But her father wasn't paying attention and accidentally put Knuffle Bunny in the washing machine. As they were leaving, Trixie, only able to speak gibberish, tried telling her dad what happened to Knuffle Bunny, but he did not understand. Once they got home, Trixies Mother realized what had happened to Knuffle Bunny, so the whole family ran back to the laundromat to retrieve it back safely. So in the end, trixie spoke "Knuffle Bunny", which ended up being her first words ever spoken.
  • -This book technically has an animal character, yes. (Knuffle Bunny)
  • This book does not use rhyme
  • -This book does not teach any sort of lesson
  • -This book does not have any monsters in it
  • This book DID have a kid as a character, Trixie.
  • This book also did have adults as characters.
  • This book did use humor.
  • This book did have illustrations
  • This book used both color AND black and white
  • This book had some actual photos as well.
  • This book did have a sentimental value/tone to it.
  • There were few words per page.
  • There were no words or phrases repeated throughout the book.
  • The most interesting sentence from the book, " Aggle Flaggle Klabble!" spoken by Trixie.
  • reccommended age for this book is for ages 2-6. This is because it talks about Trixies first words as a kid, and is relatable to many younger children still learning to say all words.
  • - think i would have liked this book as a kid because I liked many books in general as a kid, but honestly, I cared only for the pictures sometimes. I also grew easily attached to my stuffed animals, making this book easily relatable.

  1. My son has always been super-attached to his stuffed animals, like you were when you were little. We have several of Mo Willems books.
