Artist Profile: Adolf De Meyer
Adolf De Meyer was born on the first of September in 1868. Not much is known about his life when he was younger. His parents, Adolphus Louis Meyer and mother, Adele Watson. He is not known to have an siblings. He was thought to move around often when he was little. He was French, and thought to have lived in Paris and Dresden his earlier years of life. completing education and continuing at an art school.
Straight after art school, he started taking pictures for small time places. Until the century changed and fashion became quite an important factor in society. De Meyer married a woman named Olga Alberta Caracciolo, whom he also photographed quite often. Although they were not married for too long after Olga passed away from an unexpected heart attack at age 59. He found his love in America, especially within the fashion of the roaring twenties. Vogue and Vanity Fair hired him to be their main photographer, which is where he became a well known name. He was known for capturing American Expressionism at its finest. Until eventually his contract was not renewed with Harper Bazaar and he started designing fashion until his death.

Interesting...such a different era. Do you watch Downton Abbey? These pictures made me think of the beautiful dresses of that time period, how everything was so much fancier. I sometimes think it would be fun to live in a time where clothes (and other things) were more special...
