Writers as Readers

1.) When I read, to be comfortable, I typically prefer to sit in corners. I know it may sound odd, but a corner of a bed, a corner in a room, a corner of a couch, as long as it is a corner. I also have to be somewhat warm, which usually requires a blanket. I also, can't type or write anything unless I'm fully awake.

7.) The first book I remember reading is "Clifford Goes to the Library", and I just sat down one night, near the beginning part of kindergarten and started reading it. Something just clicked, and I ran into my grandparent's bedroom and read it to them. Every time after wards, I was just able to read. (I didn't even like Clifford).

8.) My favorite book is probably either Wuthering Heights or The Fault In Our Stars. I really enjoyed Wuthering Heights because it was the first really difficult, and older novel I read, It was definitely a challenge to get through, and is the only book that I can continuously re read and enjoy. But the Fault in our Stars made me cry, and the writing in it is phenomenal.

2.) I am drawn to fictional books usually. Typically they have a slight romance and are told from a women's point of view. I like a good story that I can't put down, whether it be occasionally supernatural, or just mystery, sometimes horror, and not too girly.

13.) If I ever write a book someday, it may just be a children's book, because although I really enjoy writing more Young Adult fiction, I would never have enough patience to be able to write an entire 300 something page book. In the "About the Author" section, I would hope it might mention that I was born and raised in the Midwest, always loving a good story, and by that time, a loving mother and happy wife!

9.) When I finished reading The Fault in our Stars, I was so sad because Hazel was the one who lived, and she fell in love with Augustus. It made me mad because at the beginning of the story, I thought, "Oh it's a cancer story, the main character is bound to die!" NO. The main characters love interest died, after being the most perfect character in all of young adult fiction, ever. It made you cry because they deserved each other so much, and they both deserved to be happy.

  1. I had a similar reaction to The Fault in My Stars. I read the entire book in a single day while I lounged in one of those outdoor beach beds in Mexico. It pulled me in. I loved the writing style. I was the only one in my sophomore English class in HS to choose Wuthering Heights for my reading project. I remember liking it aslo.
